UMAID BHAWAN PALACE

Umaid Bhawan Palace named after Maharaja Umaid Singh is the most stunning place to visit in Jodhpur and it is one of the world’s largest private residences. This palace was the home to the royal family of Jodhpur and was built in 1929 to counter a famine. This palace is famous for its museum which has variety of unique attractions to offer to its visitors.

This is the only palace that has been built in 20th century and that clearly makes it count in the newest palatial structure of India. The establishment of the palace is a mixed structure of the art Indo Saracenic Classical Revival and Western Art Deco style.

The large palace is set in a huge area and consist of a Throne Chamber, Private Meeting Hall, Darbar Hall to meet the citizens, a Banquet Hall, Private Dining Hall, Ball Room, Library, Indoor Private Swimming Pool & Spa, Tennis Courts, Two Marble Squash Courts, and long passages. The lounge area has pink sandstone and glazing marble floor.

Museum-

The museum has displays of stuffed leopards, a very large symbolic flag given to Maharaja Jaswant Singh by Queen Victoria, lighthouse shapes, decorative items, paintings & pictures, and many more things. The classic car collection of the Maharajas is also on exhibit in the garden in front of the museum.

Umaid Palace overwhelms the visitors with its marvelous view when it is all lit up at night. People who stay here get celebrity treatment and world-class services. It is close to many tourist locations like Clock Tower market, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Toorji ka Jhalra, etc. can be easily reached from Jodhpur railway station by private or public transport.
