Stay physically active during self-quarantine

In India the “Covid-19” storm has not stopped yet & something that has been particularly worrying during the ongoing Covid wave is the physical & mental health effects of  Covid-19 symptoms on the patients. 

People who are getting infectious by the Covid-19 symptoms face major issues in their physical health and have drastic long-term effects on the body.  

So, it is essential to look after your physical health & take some extraordinary measures if you have tested positive, and quarantine yourself for the needed time.

We know that staying active & doing regular exercise during a Covid-19 battle inside your body is a difficult task, but not doing so, would harm you in the long term.

Why is it important to stay physically active during self-quarantine?

  1. Walk

Even in small spaces, walking around or walking on the spot, can help you remain active. Also, if you are having a call with your friends or family, walk while talking.

Reduce your sedentary time by doing cognitively stimulating activities, such as reading, board games, and puzzles. It will keep you and your mind active, and eventually keep your body active.

Relaxing your body and mind works as the main element to make your body sound and active to fight any disease. Meditation and deep breathing are the two main things that can help you remain calm. 

  1. Do home-based exercises
  • Self-proning or lie in a prone position

Timely Proning exercise could prove to be a lifesaver. Prone positioning improves oxygen flow in Covid patients thereby improving ventilation and making breathing easy.  To do proning exercise, lie prone on your stomachs. Take 4-5 pillows and place one below the neck, two pillows below the chest, and two pillows below the shins. And, always remember to avoid proning for an hour after meals.

  • Anulom-Vilom:

One of the practices of yoga- Anulom-Vilom, also known as the alternate nostril breathing is one of the most beneficial breathing exercises. It is very helpful in keeping the lungs healthy & also the body gets oxygen properly. Practicing it during your home quarantine would benefit you in staying physically healthy & active.  

  1. Take Healthy diet

Eating healthy will help to decrease the risk of physical health problems like heart disease and diabetes. It also helps with sleeping problems, energy levels & your general health. So add healthy food like green vegetables, fruits and intake coconut water & regular water to remain hydrated.
